We have very quickly arrived at the time of year when GCSE and A level examinations begin (w/b 14th May).  Students and staff continue to work hard in final preparatons and revision techniques. I am sure that all of the hard work our students have put in will be reflected on results day in August.

Also this term there is the fashion show; practical drama examinations and the Expressive Arts Open Evening.  Curricular and Extra-Curricular trips continue in earnest and on Monday 2nd July the Year 9 cohort from the Allertonshire join us for the final weeks of term.

Just announced, this years Cuthbert Cross winners are Emma Curtis, Alex Wickens and Marc Scott.  Congratulations to them on receiving such a prestigious award and thank you to all post-16 students who celebrated their success with them.

All students should now have received a final exam timetable for the summer exams (coloured yellow) with rooming and seat numbers. Formal GCSE and A level exams start on 14th May. Full exam handbooks were given to students in October; copies can be accessed from the college website: http://www.northallertoncoll.org.uk/students-parents/exams.htm. These contain all the formal exam board notices as well as exam information.

What to do if there are problems: Many things can go wrong at exam time – from late buses to major illness. There are lots of things we can do to help; the most important advice is to contact the exams office URGENTLY if there are any problems. If a candidate is genuinely unable to take an exam (for medical or other valid reason) we need evidence for the exam boards – again, the exams office can give advice on the best way to get this but you must speak to us on the day of the exam. We also need to know as soon as possible about writing hand/arm injuries so we can arrange support.

We hope the exam season goes as smoothly as possible for all candidates and look forward to seeing as many happy faces as possible on . . .

It wasn’t an easy decision deciding what to study at University. Whilst at Northallerton College I studied English Language, Psychology and History. I’d always loved both journalism and psychology so when I left in 2008, I was torn over which to choose. However, now in my second year studying journalism at the University of Sheffield, I know 100% that I made the right choice.
